On the way home from basketball last night, Will asked a great question.
Mom, if it snows, can we go on the grass at school during recess?
My first thought: Hell yes! Why not?
I asked if there’s a rule that says you can’t. He said he thinks so.
I seized this teachable moment and explained that if there are rules you don’t understand, always ask questions. Even if everyone else seems understands, ask questions. I told him I do that all the time. Ask questions so it makes sense to you. Have it explained.
Then in his young, curious voice he asks: Can you explain the life of girls?
Kid, you’re a genius. You’re gonna need to keep asking questions on this one. For a long, long while. I wish you well!
